SUMMARY OF EXPERENICE

Ms. Yoo has a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan. Her areas of concentration in graduate school were family therapy and child welfare.  She holds Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in the State of Illinois. She also holds Master Addiction Counselor (MAC). As a licensed clinical social worker, Ms. Yoo has a vast experience working with various issues, including substance abuse, which affects children and families. For the past nineteen years, she has been instrumental in the process of ASACS evolution into a more family based program having provided family-centered services, whenever possible, in four different schools and communities. Ms. Yoo utilizes all modalities of treatment such as, individual, group, and family counseling to provide services to adolescents and parents. She is especially effective in working with families with her specialization in family therapy. Prior to her involvement with ASACS, Ms. Yoo had worked in family based programs with substance use being part of the issues, in Detroit, Chicago, and California.
Ms. Yoo maintains full credentialing as a clinician at the Brian Allgood Medical Center in Yongsan Garrison, Seoul, Korea.

Ms. Yoo has served as an ASACS Counselor in Yongsan military community where
she is responsible for identifying high-risk youth and families and providing prevention and treatment services to them. Ms. Yoo is also responsible for providing in-services to teachers, and other relevant agencies. She documents clinical cases, and keeps other program statistics as required by Army regulation and ASACS policy. She is also involved in community wide prevention efforts to include Red Ribbon campaign and others. She represents ASACS at Installation Juvenile Action Committee, Garrison New Comers Orientation, and Health Promotion Committee.

 

July 2005 - July 2011: ASACS Counselor, SAIC, Daegu, Korea
Ms. Yoo has served as an ASACS Counselor in Daegu (Daegu American School). She was responsible for identifying high-risk youth, and providing education and treatment services to adolescents and their parents. She was responsible for increasing community awareness of adolescent substance abuse issues through various efforts such as Red Ribbon week Campaign, as well as class room presentations. She was also involved in community wide prevention efforts to include, Suicide Task Force, Health promotion, and others.

Ms. Yoo had served as an ASACS Counselor in Sigonella Naval Air Station (Sigonella High School), where she was responsible for identifying high-risk youth and families in the
community and providing education and treatment services to them. Ms. Yoo was
also responsible for providing classes and other prevention activities to parents, teachers, and other relevant agencies in the community. She regularly participated in ASACS quarterly quality assurance meetings, and documented clinical cases and kept other program statistics as required by the Navy and ASACS policy. She had served as acting clinical supervisor in the absence of the supervisor.

Ms. Yoo had served as an ASACS Counselor in Yongsan military community where
she was responsible for identifying high-risk youth and families and providing prevention and treatment services to them. Ms. Yoo was also responsible for providing classes to parents, teachers, and other relevant agencies. She also had served as an acting clinical supervisor in the absence of the clinical supervisor. Finally she served as a Quality Assurance Representative for pacific Q.A. committee in 1997. She documented clinical cases, and kept other program statistics as required by Army regulation and ASACS policy. Ms. Yoo was a mental health therapist. She provided individual therapy to children and adolescents (ages 3-18) that were placed in specialized foster care for severe emotional problems with substance abuse being part of the issues for some of them. She provided family therapy to natural families to facilitate family reunification, if child/natural parents were ready for family reunification. Ms. Yoo also worked in the court system if there was court involvement with particular youth.

Ms. Yoo was a Social Worker II. Ms. Yoo provided home-based treatment to children and families that were involved in child protective services. She also performed case management and court duties. During the same period, Ms. Yoo served as supervisor on-call for emergency family relief workers who provided care-taking services to neglected or abused children.
